Photo Of The Day : “The Tug Boat”

I am really curious to what the name of the barge is. I am thinking the language is Russian, but can’t be sure sure, since I cannot type those characters into my stupid American keyboard. Anyone out there have an idea? This was taken from the Commodore Events yacht while shooting the wedding of Angelina and Arthur Brooks!

Photo Of The Day: “Jailed City…….with a Sailboat!”

“Jailed City…….with a Sailboat!”

This may look very similar to another photo I have buried here in my Landscape Photography Portfolio. It is called “Jailed City” You can see it here

http://www.mb-photography-sf.com/Landscapes/Landscape/11161093_TQL9m#805715204_UUPfT-A-LB

I took that a couple of years ago. Anyway, last week, I decided to revisit Tiburon, California to take some new photos. The water, clouds and the sky looked VERY alike the day I took “Jailed City” When I saw this sailboat coming from stage left, I decided to try to recreate that photo, but this time, with a nice, happy sailboat blocking Alcatraz Prison!

Photo Of The Day : “The Hills, The Gate, The City”

The Hills, The Gate, The City”

Taking my friend and favorite photography student Jenny up to the Marin Headlands in Sausalito, California at sunset to teach her about lighting, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, didn’t give me much time to shoot my own photos, but I did manage to get this HDR photograph. I honestly think I have only taken one other photo of the Golden Gate Bridge from the vantage point. May be a pretty good place to shoot the sunrise!

Photo Of The Day “The Bird Of Tiburon”

“The Bird Of Tiburon”

So, after hearing all week about the possibility of snow in San Francisco, the weekend came and went with not an of snow, rain, hail, sleet, or any kind of moisture for that matter. Yes, it got cold, but the skies were clear, and the wind was calm. This bird even found it nice enough to sit back and enjoy the view of San Francisco from the waterfront of Tiburon.

Oh, and believe it or not, there is a blimp in this photo.

Photo Of The Day : “The Pirates Of San Francisco”

So, at least I wasn’t the only person out on the bay on Super Bowl Sunday! Leaving Alameda, California on a Commodore Events Yacht (http://www.commodoreevents.com) I saw these old pirate boats coming into the channel from San Francisco Bay. I was amazed at their design, look, and beauty. Who they are, what they were doing, I will never know. But I hope to find out! If anyone knows who these boats may belong to, let me know

Photo Of The Day: “Golden Seagull”

For some reason, I have been obsessed with photographing birds lately. I think maybe it’s the challenge? Chasing a fast flying bird with your camera, trying to get the frame right, with a fast enough shutter to make sure there is no blur. Timing a shot just right to get the landing. The whole art of shooting birds (and wildlife in general) is fun, challenging, and extremely rewarding.

Luckily, everything I describe above doesn’t pertain to this shot, because luckily this guy didn’t move. I actually like to think he was posing for me. “Hey, look, let me go stand on this rail right in front of the Golden Gate Bridge and give you a nice side look. That would look cool for you, right?”

Thanks little guy. It does look cool

Photo Of The Day: “Cavallo Point Sunset”

Last night, I found myself heading to the Adobe headquarters to participate in a Photoshop user group demonstration by the knowledgeable and very entertaining, Russell Brown. Check out his Adobe Photoshop tips and tricks here. Learned some cool stuff! Plus he has a TON of very cool photoshop actions, that he makes available for everyone to download (such as being able to create a star trails photo, with just one star photo!)

Anyway, I had some time to spare before heading into San Francisco, so I decided to stop at Cavallo Point in Sausalito, to catch some sunset shots of the city and the Golden Gate Bridge. This was the very first photo I took when I got out of my car, and as far as I can tell, the best of the shoot!
