Photo Of The Day “Bridge Over Troubled Water”

It has been a WHILE since I have posted a Photo Of The Day. I feel terrible, because I love to share my work. But unfortunately, since my real estate photography business for VHT.Com has been very busy, along with all the weddings and commercial work I do, I rarely have time to process my OWN personal photos. I chose this as a career, and have the greatest job in the world, but I can’t remember the last time I was able to go on a nice lonely hike, and take nature photos for myself. Sigh 😦

I think this photo represents what I am going through quite well. The bridge is where I want to be. Nice and calm, being able to set up my tripod, and just shoot the quiet wilderness. The rushing water represents my crazy work and social schedule. Non stop, and moving fast!

I promise to start posting more. It drives me crazy to not have people looking at new photography from me!

Photo Of The Day : “The Hills, The Gate, The City”

The Hills, The Gate, The City”

Taking my friend and favorite photography student Jenny up to the Marin Headlands in Sausalito, California at sunset to teach her about lighting, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, didn’t give me much time to shoot my own photos, but I did manage to get this HDR photograph. I honestly think I have only taken one other photo of the Golden Gate Bridge from the vantage point. May be a pretty good place to shoot the sunrise!

Photo Of The Day “Painted Golden Gate”

I didn’t process any new photos this weekend, because I was redesigning my website! Check it out and let me know what you think!

This is another oldie, but goodie! This is the Golden Gate Bridge taken close to sunset from Crissy Field in San Francisco. The Marin Headlands in Sausalito can be seen in the distance.

Photo Of The Day: “Golden Seagull”

For some reason, I have been obsessed with photographing birds lately. I think maybe it’s the challenge? Chasing a fast flying bird with your camera, trying to get the frame right, with a fast enough shutter to make sure there is no blur. Timing a shot just right to get the landing. The whole art of shooting birds (and wildlife in general) is fun, challenging, and extremely rewarding.

Luckily, everything I describe above doesn’t pertain to this shot, because luckily this guy didn’t move. I actually like to think he was posing for me. “Hey, look, let me go stand on this rail right in front of the Golden Gate Bridge and give you a nice side look. That would look cool for you, right?”

Thanks little guy. It does look cool

Photo Of The Day : “Fireball Bridge”

The couple for the wedding I am shooting next week needed some last minute photographs, primarily one to print and display at their post ceremony reception. So as the ever so helpful photographer I am, I offered to help take a new one and expedite it. Since it was last minute, I just decided to take them up to the Marin Headlands and get the standard couple over the bridge photograph, although I think these are much better. I may post one later!

But while up there, the sun was setting and the sky was phenomenal. A typical Bay Area winter day. So I decided to work for myself for a split second, and captured this 5 exposure HDR.

99.9% of the time, I would NEVER EVER post a photo taken with my iPhone. But I took this sunset shot from a boat in the middle of the bay in celebration of my buddies birthday and I thought it came out great. Another case of being in the right place at the right time!

Daily Photo “Rodeo Bridge”

Just another great winter sunset at Rodeo Beach in Sausalito, California. It still amazes me how I live so close to probably the best spot in the bay area to photograph the sunset. It also amazes me that I was never standing on the end of this bridge at this point of the sunset. But I found myself in this very location this day, so I set up, somehow kept Rocky at bay and out of the frame, and snapped!

Photo Of The Day: “The Cross And The Castle”

In one of the only sunny days during my 3 weeks in Europe, I was able to find this great frame while walking down the Charles bridge, in Prague, Czech Republic. This city is truly a marvel. It is a great mix of medieval and contemporary. The old churches and castles are nothing short of unbelievable, and a great subject for photography. Unfortunately, like most of my days in Europe in November, the sky wasn’t exactly great for photography. You can only make a picture look so good with a dull, gray sky!

Daily Photo: “Bridge To Forever”

This is the second landscape photo I took at the Risse-Savage wedding on August 7th. The wedding was at Martis Camp in Truckee, CA. It is an amazing location, located on a small lake. In typical Lake Tahoe fashion, the outdoor reception was interrupted by a 10 minute hail storm! I do have a great photo of the bride hiding under the groom’s tuxedo jacket, WHILE STILL EATING HER DINNER! She was getting pelted with pretty good size hail chunks, but she was NOT going to let this ruin her day!

This photo was taken long before the hail storm started. Even before the ceremony started!
