Photo Of The Day: “The Wild West”
“The Wild West“
Highway 15 is the last section of pavement that stood between me and Las Vegas, Nevada after driving from San Francisco, California. It is a rather desolate road, containing nothing more than the occasional abandon gas station. I saw this train track coming up and wanted to shoot it, but since the car was going about 80 miles per hour, I didn’t think I had a chance in hell of getting a sharp, non blurry shot, let alone good composition. But I did! Throw some single raw HDR processing and some Silver Efex in the mix, and it kind of looks like an old turn of the century photograph of the sparse, yet booming Wild West.
Oh and how was I able to take a clear, sharp shot at 80 mph? 1/8000 shutter speed, f/5.6, ISO 1000

Daily Photo “Tahoe Fire”
During the outdoor dinner reception at the Risse-Savage wedding in Truckee, CA in early August, out of nowhere, the skies opened up and a freak hail storm chased all the guests out of their seats and into the gymnasium. While the band was turning around their stage setup, the waiters moving the buffet trays, and the guests drying off indoors, I saw this! Nothing like a Lake Tahoe Sunset after a storm. Amazing colors!
