Photo Of The Day “Bridge Over Troubled Water”

It has been a WHILE since I have posted a Photo Of The Day. I feel terrible, because I love to share my work. But unfortunately, since my real estate photography business for VHT.Com has been very busy, along with all the weddings and commercial work I do, I rarely have time to process my OWN personal photos. I chose this as a career, and have the greatest job in the world, but I can’t remember the last time I was able to go on a nice lonely hike, and take nature photos for myself. Sigh 😦

I think this photo represents what I am going through quite well. The bridge is where I want to be. Nice and calm, being able to set up my tripod, and just shoot the quiet wilderness. The rushing water represents my crazy work and social schedule. Non stop, and moving fast!

I promise to start posting more. It drives me crazy to not have people looking at new photography from me!

Photo Of The Day : “Living In Sin”

While photographing a friend of mine, I noticed this sweet frame trough the viewfinder. I thought it came out perfect. Porsche, leather pants, Corona, half a headlight. Damn it, this should be used for an advertisement for Porsche! Or Corona! Or BOTH!!! Pay me!!!!!!

Big thanks to Marlease for being in this awesome photograph, as well as the name for the photo. I HATE coming up with name.

Photo Of The Day “Týn Cathedral”

“Týn Cathedral”

Ok, so I am officially in panic mode. I took thousands of photos in Europe. But, since this was a play trip, and not work, processing these photos became a monumental task. I would select certain photos here and there, process and upload. But since photography IS my full time job, client photos come first. So, alas, my Euro Raw files went on my Western Digital external hard drive, patiently waiting to be processed. Well, my WD hard drive (less than 6 months old) just stopped working. Out of the blue. Yay. So I brought it into the Geek squad at best buy, and they said there was an 80% chance that they would be successful. Well of course, with my luck, they weren’t. So now I am faced with the possibility that every raw file on my external hard drive is now GONE forever, including 3 weeks documenting my first trip to Europe. SWEET! Thank you Western Digital! Lesson learned though. I will be taking further steps in the future to have my files backed up on more than one device or on the cloud (although the cloud is insanely expensive).

So with my rant out of the way, I decided to share a photo from Europe I haven’t shared before. Maybe it will help ease the pain I am going through? 😦

This is the Týn Cathedral located in the Old Town Square in Prague, Czech Republic. Prague has some of the most incredible buildings in the world. A photographer’s dream city!

Photo Of The Day: “Jailed City…….with a Sailboat!”

“Jailed City…….with a Sailboat!”

This may look very similar to another photo I have buried here in my Landscape Photography Portfolio. It is called “Jailed City” You can see it here

http://www.mb-photography-sf.com/Landscapes/Landscape/11161093_TQL9m#805715204_UUPfT-A-LB

I took that a couple of years ago. Anyway, last week, I decided to revisit Tiburon, California to take some new photos. The water, clouds and the sky looked VERY alike the day I took “Jailed City” When I saw this sailboat coming from stage left, I decided to try to recreate that photo, but this time, with a nice, happy sailboat blocking Alcatraz Prison!

Photo Of The Day : “The Hills, The Gate, The City”

The Hills, The Gate, The City”

Taking my friend and favorite photography student Jenny up to the Marin Headlands in Sausalito, California at sunset to teach her about lighting, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, didn’t give me much time to shoot my own photos, but I did manage to get this HDR photograph. I honestly think I have only taken one other photo of the Golden Gate Bridge from the vantage point. May be a pretty good place to shoot the sunrise!

Photo Of The Day: “The End Of Sausalito”

“The End Of Sausalito”

After almost falling to a certain death when I was blown by a high gust of wind, I was able to recompose, set up my tripod, and capture this 7 exposure HDR Photograph. I drove out to Sausalito, California on Tuesday, hoping that the big awesome storms clouds would roll in to create some dramatic skylines. Of course, this was not to be, so I had to play the cards I was dealt. Not to bad for no clouds, but I will be going back soon! Right at the edge of the foreground grass is a sheer cliff down to the ocean below. I guess this is why this trail is closed, and why I almost died for the art of photography. But it was not to be, as I am made of Tiger’s Blood and Adonis DNA

Photo Of The Day: “Sweets”

I post so much landscape photography, no one really knows I actually enjoy shooting other photography genres! One such genre being people. Unlike oceans beaches and mountains, people move, need direction, have emotion, etc. It is a complete 180 degree turn from what you need to do to get a good shot from a still landscape, and can be quite a challenge. And as always, sometimes some luck helps. We stumbled upon this graffiti along the walkway at ocean beach, and knew it would look cool in a portrait photo.

Photo Of The Day: “Shot Through The Park”

I have passed this piece of art on the Embarcadero in San Francisco many times, but had never photographed it. Walking to the Giants game from the Ferry terminal last week, I saw this angle and knew I had to shoot it.

Getting excited to go to Europe on Tuesday, although am still totally unprepared. But have a feeling I am gonna get some great shots!

GO GIANTS!

Daily Photo “Tue, Sep 11”

Today’s daily photo is not one of my photographs, but rather I shot I stumbled upon this morning on Yahoo News. To me, this is one of the more powerful images from 9-11 I have seen. It conveys the darkness, confusion and somber state of that day that no one will ever forget. It also reflects how time stood still after the events of that day. I wonder how long this calendar stayed on this date.

This photograph was taken by David Karp at the counter at the Chase Manhattan bank on Broadway. You can follow David on Twitter @davidkarp

Also, a great little blog entry about Photography and 9-11 that makes me proud to be a photographer.
