Photo Of The Day: “The Ring Of Kerry River”

The Ring Of Kerry in Ireland is one of those amazing places you don’t really think ACTUALLY exists until you find yourself driving down to the thin, 2 lane highway with nothing around you except lush green vegetation and sheep. You come to the coastline and are just blown away by the rugged cliffs, pounding surf, and driving gale force winds. This is an amazing drive, and my only regret is that we did it too quick! If you ever find your self in Ireland, make sure to drive the Ring Of Kerry!

This HDR photograph was taking shortly after entering the Ring Of Kerry. I do not know what river that is. Anyone know?

A big advantage of being a full time photographer, is having the pleasure of working with amazing people and awesome companies. One such company I have been working with in 2011 is Commodore Events. They own 6 beautiful charter yachts that have both public dinner cruises, as well as private charters. What better place to get married than on the top deck of a 6 million dollar yacht at dawn on a warm, still summer night, right in front of the Golden Gate Bridge with the sun setting behind you? I can’t think of many! Than afterwards, while cruising the bay for the reception party, you get to see amazing views such as this one! And don’t forget, you need an amazing wedding photographer to go with this amazing wedding! Wink, wink =)

This is an old photo. A couple of years I believe. Since I have been super busy with some photography projects I have to finish, I haven’t had much time for my “personal” photography. =( So I realized I had never made this a photo of the day. So, here it is!

I took this with a 400+mm focal length from downtown Tiburon CA.

Photo Of The Day “Grazing Pony”

My “9-5” job is that I photograph real estate listings here in the San Francisco Bay Area for a visual marketing company. I received notification of a new listing that needed my services in Point Reyes. Getting a job in West Marin is not very common, so I was very excited.  I love West Marin, but don’t get out there enough. So I decided to make a day out it. Sunset on a deserted beach in Point Reyes? Yes please! Well, todays photo is not said sunset, but it is instead a cute little horse I saw on the road on by Nicasio.

Photo Of The Day “Zabriskie Point”

So, are you sick of seeing my photos from Death Valley National Park? Too bad, because the place is awesome, and I am busy as hell, and these are already processed! This is another sunrise shot, of Zabriskie Point! Damn, I love this place. I want to go back, NOW!

Photo Of The Day: “Sunrise Peak”

It really is mind boggling that with a simple focal length of 432mm (ok, not THAT simple, but just go with it), you can see snow in this view from Zabriskie Point in Death Valley, a place that regularly reaches 120 degrees F in the summer. This was taken at Sunrise. As you can see, the desert sky is beautiful at this time!

Photo Of The Day: “Badwater Sunset”

Badwater Basin, in Death Valley National Park, is the lowest elevation in North America at 282 feet below sea level. What is really crazy about this is that Badwater Basin is only 84.6 miles south east of Mount Whitney, the highest point in the United States with an elevation of 14,505 feet. Just another reason I love this great state of California!

When I got to Badwater, I was looking for the amazing salt patterns that I’m sure you have seen pictures of before. I walked and walked, but couldn’t find the same pattern! I quickly realized that the rain that had fallen on Death Valley 2 weeks earlier had filled up the Basin enough to cover the really interesting salt patterns. So while I was bummed about not being able to capture the amazing patterns, I noticed that the still water created a perfect reflection of the mountain ranges in the the distance. With the sun setting rapidly, I was able to capture a number of good shots and angles.

Photo Of The Day “Welcome To Death Valley”

Death Valley National Park covers more than 3.3 MILLION acres. In those 3.3 million acres, there is really only 2 paved roads. These highways are thin, straight, desolate stretches on pavement that seem to go on forever, with no end in site. I think this photo conveys my point quite well!

Photo Of The Day : “Arguing Elephant Seals”

On my way back from Los Angeles, I decided to take the LONG route home on Highway 1, instead of taking the same old, boring route of I-5 through the center of the state. For anyone who has never driven Highway 1, drop everything you are doing and GO NOW! It is a beautiful, quiet, and pristine stretch of rugged California coastline. Somewhere around the last town,or anything manmade for that matter (Harmony, Population 19) for about 3 hours is this beach filled with thousands of huge elephant seals. The males are beasts, the females are super cute mounds of blubber, and the pups are just adorable.

While snapping photos, I noticed this male in the foreground and the female in the background (with a little pup on her side) howling at each other. Looks like some form of Elephant Seal Marriage. The second picture is just 2 cute pups snuggling with their mother!

Photo Of The Day : “Santa Monica Ferris Wheel”

Since I haven’t had much free time here in LA to sit in front of my Macbook, this is the only photo I have processed as of yet. But I like it!
